Other information: My kennel name "Heskethane" is registered both in England & the US. Have finished 79 Champions, many Internationals Chs too. Have started many kennels with sound stock over the years. Any guarantees as to 'show quality' at 10 weeks are a crock, so much can go wrong, can be mis-handled, etc. "No obvious faults" is all you can say at 10 weeks. Buyers should check if breeder has exhibited, belongs to local Club, plus Yorkie Club. If not, why not? I insist dogs are returned if buyers unable to keep them, & find happy homes for them with seniors. I board any of my Yorkies.

And a note from Beryl Hesketh:

Eric-

With my background in Yorkshire Terriers I would like to know something about you. Presumably that is Shooter on your masthead, you should trim him his ears because they look too big as they are. Also stop trimming under his eyes along his nose, entirely incorrect. [Blah, blah, blah] ...

Beryl

Jeeze Beryl, I guess you don't get out much.  The title of SHOOTERDOG.COM is "Shooter's Yorkie Doghouse of Fun" -- Not "Shooter's Yorkie Grooming Tips."  Shooter has never been near a dog show and never will.  If he ever did, he'd just be lifting his leg and sniffing butts.  He's a pet and we're not about to keep his hair in a topknot, or have loose hair irritating his eyes.

If you don't like his hair, that's fine -- Shooter has no shortage of fans.  Perhaps we should see what the publishers of "Cosmopolitan" have to say about your hair.

-Eric & Shooter

P.S. You're welcome for the free listing.

The Covert
Joy Robinson
97 Old Burlington Road
Bedford, MA 01730
Phone: (781)275-9319
E-mail: joymmre@juno.com
Survey data:
There's a lot of controversy surrounding the purchase of a puppy named Baby Annie who was purchased by Cathi Brown from Joy Robinson, and was diagnosed with blindness from PPM. Both Cathi Brown and Joy Robinson have e-mailed me about 5 MBytes of documentation, letters, rants, and manifestos. Admittedly, it is impossible to know the full truth surrounding Baby Annie, especially when the accusations by Cathi Brown change almost daily. Here is the briefest of overviews:
Cathi Brown picks out Baby Annie, loves her, and takes her home.
Cathi Brown takes Baby Annie to the vet for kennel cough.
Cathi Brown becomes concerned with Baby Annie's vision.
Baby Annie is diagnosed with PPM.
Here is gets fuzzy (npi) because overnight the story changes from might-have-vision-problems to 100-percent-completely-blind and Joy knew about it. I have a little trouble with that, but it's hard to have a beloved puppy diagnosed with blindness, and Cathi is a little on the emotional side and possibly prone to exaggeration (putting it politely). So I'm getting tons of e-mail from Cathi and her Yorkie List minions, and Cathi is actively putting up hate sites against Joy Robinson and threatening lawsuits. Joy's e-mails to me are professional, she is truly concerned, and she clearly wants what is best for Baby Annie. Joy refunds Cathi Brown THE FULL PURCHASE PRICE, AND CATHI GETS TO KEEP BABY ANNIE. Did you catch that? Money back, free dog. Now Cathi denies getting a refund, and Joy has to send me a copy of the check. Then Cathi admits that she was refunded, kept the puppy, but it doesn't end. Every week it's rumored by the Cathi Clan that Joy Robinson sells just blind dogs - I think the total is 4 or 5 at this writing - Every dog that Joy touches turns blind. There's a dog that Joy sold named Princess with partial blindness. It was fully disclosed to the buyer, written on the sales contract that Princess was partially blind, and the dog was sold at a greatly reduced price, though not free. The mother of Princess, as well as any females producing puppies (Shooter doesn't say the b____ word) with eyesight problems were also spayed. The new owner is delighted with Princess but Cathi is upset about Joy selling Princess and says we should remove Joy Robinson from our RECOMMENDED LIST. We've never had a recommended list. We've recommended two or three breeders to buyers personally and Joy's name never came up.
So who's right? It's difficult to be impartial when the buyer's e-mails are a little irrational and not always truthful. We know first hand what it's like to have a Yorkie blind due to a congenital illness. We never considered asking for a refund, though any buyer has a right to ask. Would I buy a Yorkie from Joy? No. We have close relationships with local breeders who's dog's we know and trust. Would I be concerned about buying a dog from Joy? Absolutely. I'd be concerned about buying any dog from anybody, and in light of the controversy, I'd be extra concerned. If there is a history of genetic blindness with Joy's dogs, it's a shame the fight had to be championed by such an erratic and not always truthful buyer because a lot of credibility was lost.

We have a gate so the boys can be in the kitchen, which makes it nice especially when the girls are in heat. We keep in touch with people who buy our puppies, and have made a lot of friends. The hardest part is watching them leave.

They tend to be on the tiny side, usually under 5 pounds and sometimes much smaller. They have beautiful coats and baby doll faces. AND, don't be surprised if we ask you as many questions as you ask us. We want all our puppies to go to only the happiest and most loving and caring homes possible.

We are trying to improve the breed with each litter, this is not our income but straight from our heart, we love each and every one of our dogs and puppies and do not have to place any of them, and won't unless we feel the puppies will have a loving home that will give them all there is to offer.
